2、afttoengineeringdisciplinebecausetheytransferknowledgeaboutprovensolutionsinanunderstandableandreusableformattoexperiencedusersandnovicesalike.Althoughsecuritypatternsarewidelyknown,manyquestionsremainunansweredregardingtheirconceptualfoundationandpracticaluse.Wech
3、aracterisethecurrentpatternschemesusingtheZachmanFrameworkforenterprisearchitecturemodelling,whichallowsustostructureandposequestionsaboutboththeproblemdomainandcorre-spondingsolutionsprovidedbysecuritypatterns.WeproposeaparallelsecurityplaneoverlayingtheentireZach
4、mangridallowingtheseparateconsiderationofsecuritywithinthesecurityplaneusingtheinterrogativequestions(who,what,where,when,whyandhow)toevaluatethesixaspects.Theintegrationbetweensecurityandfunc-tionalconcernsissimilarlyaidedbyusingthecorrespondencebetweenaspectsinth
5、esecurityandfunctionalplanestodecomposeandexaminetherelationshipbetweensecuritypatternsandproblemcontext.Wealsobrieflydiscusssecuritypatternsastransformations,andrelatedconceptssuchastacticsthatmayusefullybeappliedtosecurity.Weconcludewithasetofunsolvedchallengesfor
