2、crisisthehumanbeinghascreatedintheworldduetoeconomic,technologicalandideologicalstructuresinordertoprotecttheintegrityoftheEarth'secologicalcommunitiesandecocentricvalues.Theformertriestostudytherelationshipbetweentheliteratureandtheenvironmentandthetreatmentofthenatureintheliteraryandeventhenon-
3、literarytexts.Infact,itisarguedthatwildernesshaveaspecialplaceincommunicatingspiritualwisdomtoman.Thisisespeciallymeaningfulwhentheseparationbegantobeconsideredbetweenthe‘human’and‘natural’sciences.Andbythesametoken,thesupportersof‘DeepEcology,’anotioncoinedbyNorwegianphilosopherArneNaess,critici
4、sewhattheyterm‘ShallowEcology.’Hence,Ecocriticismstudies,inonewayortheother,therelationshipinthebinaryoppositionsofnature/cultureandnature/humanandthemanifestationofthesesconceptsandtheirinteractionintheliteraryworks.Thearticlewillgiveanoverviewofthemovementandanecocriticalanalysisofashortstoryby
