3、yaspectsoflanguage.Hartmann&Stork(1976)suggestthat“apersonissaidtobeafluentspeakerofalanguagewhenhecanuseitsstructuresaccuratelywhilstconcentratingoncontentratherthanform,usingtheunitsandpatternsautomaticallyatnormalconversationalspeedwhentheyareneeded.”Brumfit(1984)
4、feelsthatfluencyis“toberegardedasnaturallanguageuse.”Richardetal.(1985)maintainthatfluencyis“thefeatureswhichgivespeechthequalitiesofbeingnaturalandnormal,includingnative-likeuseofpausing,rhythm,intonation,stress,rateofspeaking,anduseofinterjectionsandinterruptions.”
5、Consideringnativespeakers'oralproduction,Fillmore’s(1979)identifiesfourabilitiesthatmightbesubsumedunderthetermfluency,thefirstofwhichistheabilitytotalkatlengthwithfewpauses.Thethreeotherabilitiesincludetheabilitytotalkincoherent,reasoned,and“semanticallydensesentenc
