3、izedtheothercourtofficials.Eventually,theintriguesofhisrivalsexertedenoughillinfluenceontheKingthatQuYuansoonfoundhimselfindisfavor.TheKingbegantonotlistentoQuYuan'ssuggestionsandadvice.Notlongafter,theKingbanishedQuYuanfromChu.Whileinexile,QuYuancomposedmanypoemsexpressinghissorrowsandconcern
4、sforhiscountryandpeople.Amongsthismostfamouspoemsis"EncounteringSorrow,"apoemdescribinghissearchforagoodsovereignthatwouldlistentogoodadviceregardinggovernment.Intheyear295B.C.,attheageof37,QuYuandrownedhimselfintheMiloRiver.Heclaspedaheavystonetohischestandleapedintothewater.KnowingthatQuYuan
5、wasarighteousman,thepeopleofChurushedtotherivertotrytosavehim.ThepeopledesperatelysearchedthewatersintheirboatslookingforQuYuan,buttheywereunsuccessfulintheirattempttorescuehim.EveryyeartheDragonBoatFestivaliscelebratedtocommemoratethisattemptatrescuingQuYuan.WhenitwasknownthatQuYuanhadbeenlos
6、tforever,thelocalpeoplebeganthetraditionofthrowingsacrificialcookedriceintotheriverfortheirlosthero.However,alocalfishermanhadadreamthatQuYuandidnotgetanyofthecookedricethatwasthrownintotheriverinhishonor.Instead,itwasthefishesintheriverthathadeatentherice.So,thefollowingyear,thetraditionofwra
