3、BrownUniversitysince1968.Inaddition,heisthesponsorofSwedishStudiesatBrown.HehasbeenthechairpersonoftheAdvisoryCouncilonComparativeLiteratureatPrincetonUniversityandisactivelyinvolvedintheAmericanComparativeLiteratureAssociation.Amongthemanyacademichonors,researchgrants,and
4、fellowshipshehasreceivedincluderesearchgrantsfromtheAmericanCouncilofLearnedSocietiesandtheNationalEndowmentfortheHumanities.In1983hewasvisitingprofessorofAmericanLiteratureatStockholmUniversity,wherehereceivedtheFulbrightSeniorLecturerAward.HeiscurrentlyamemberoftheAcadem
5、yofLiteraryStudiesandthedirectorofanNEH-fundedprogramingreatbooks.In1995hewasnamedBrownUniversity'sbestteacherinthehumanities.HeistherecipientofaNationalEndowmentfortheHumanitiesAwardforUniversityTeachersfor1998-99forhisworkinliteratureandmedicine.Dr.Weinsteinistheauthorof
6、VisionandResponseinModernFiction(1984),FictionsoftheSelf:1550–1800(1981),TheFictionofRelationship(1988),andNobody'sHome:Speech,Self,andPlaceinAmericanFictionfromHawthornetoDeLillo(1993).Heisworkinginthefieldsofliteratureandmedicine,withaviewtowardabook-lengthstudyoftherela
