2、leforthesebigdecisions.Wenotonlyhaveaparliamentarydemocracy,butonquestionsaboutthearrangementsforhowwe'vegovernedtherearetimeswhenitisrighttoaskthepeoplethemselvesandthatiswhatwehavedone.TheBritishpeoplehavevotedtoleavetheEuropeanUnionandtheirwillmust
3、berespected.Iwanttothankeveryonewhotookpartinthecampaignonmysideoftheargument,includingallthosewhoputasidepartydifferencestospeakinwhattheybelievewasthenationalinterestandletmecongratulateallthosewhotookpartintheLeavecampaignforthespiritedandpassionat
4、ecasethattheymade.ThewilloftheBritishpeopleisaninstructionthatmustbedelivered.Itwasnotadecisionthatwastakenlightly,notleastbecausesomanythingsweresaidbysomanydifferentorganisationsaboutthesignificanceofthisdecision.Sotherecanbenodoubtabouttheresult.Ac
5、rosstheworldpeoplehavebeenwatchingthechoicethatBritainhasmade.IwouldreassurethosemarketsandinvestorsthatBritain'seconomyisfundamentallystrongandIwouldalsoreassureBritonslivinginEuropeancountriesandEuropeancitizenslivingheretherewillbenoimmediatechange
6、sinyourcircumstances.Therewillbenoinitialchangeinthewayourpeoplecantravel,inthewayourgoodscanmoveorthewayourservicescanbesold.WemustnowprepareforanegotiationwiththeEuropeanUnion.ThiswillneedtoinvolvethefullengagementoftheScottish,WelshandNorthernIrela
7、ndgovernmentstoensurethattheinterestsofallpartsofourUnitedKingdomareprotectedandadvanced.Butaboveallthiswillrequirestrong,determinedandcommittedleadership.I'mveryproudandveryhonouredtohavebeenPrimeMinisterofthiscountryforsixyears.Ibelievewe'vemadegrea
