2、ion,intheformofaframework,isaddedtoalearningmaterial.Thestudywasintegratedinaclassthattheparticipantsweretaking.Motivationalaswellasmemoryperformanceeffectswerestudied.Inanassignment,twostudymaterialswereused,inwhicheachofthematerialscameinaneutralaswellasasociallyenriche
3、dformat.Earlierinthesemester,theparticipantshadcompletedaquestionnairethatassessedtheirdegreeofinterestinrepresentedsocialcontexts–theirdegreeofpersonorientation.Theresultsshowedconsiderableindividualvariabilityinattitudestothesociallyenrichedframeworks.Thestudyalsopoints
4、toindividualdifferencesastowhethersocialenrichmentofamaterialsupportsmemoryperformanceornot.Inaddition,theresultsofthestudyindicatethattheconstruct‘degreeofpersonorientation’ismeaningfulindescribingthevariabilitybothinattitudeandperformance.Apedagogicalimplicationoftheres
5、ultsisthatwecannothopeforsocialenrichmentoflearningmaterialstobeaninstructionalpanacea.Thatis,cognitivescientistsorinstructionalscientistswillnotbeabletoproposesocialenrichmentasageneralrecommendationorguidelinetodesignersofinstructionalmaterials.Rather,designersoughttobe
