2、nt;QualityPlanningAbstractThispaperpresentsanapproachtotheapplicationofQualityFunctionDeploymentthatbringstogetherthemodelsdevelopedbyDonClausing(EnhancedQFD)andAkao.Inthisway,theproposedapproachbenefitsfromfocusing,atthesametime,at:parameterextraction,systematizingthedecisiontaki
3、ngprocesswithinitsmatrices(EnhancedQFD);andtheidentificationofrelationshipsamongdifferentparametersoftheproductdevelopmentprocess(QFDbyAkao).Thestepsinvolvedintheproposedapproacharedepictedandjustified.Finally,adiscussionismadeontheeffectofQFDondevelopmentcycletimeandthebenefitsof
4、theproposedapproach.IntroductionQualityFunctionDeploymentisanintegrativemethodologyaimingatguidingtheprocessofproductdevelopmentbasedoncustomerdemands(HauserandClausing,1996;Akao,1996;King,1989).Itworksbylinkingtogethercustomerneeds,productandpartsdesignrequirements,processplannin
5、g,andmanufacturingspecificationsduringproductdevelopment.Basically,itisbasedontheuseofsequentiallyconnectedcrossmatrixtablesinwhichcustomerneedsaretransformedtoproductcharacteristicsandproductandprocessengineeringparameters.QFDbenefitsfrombeingvisual(basedondiagrams,chartsandmatri
6、ces),connective(theoutputfromoneactivitybecomestheinputtothenext)andbasedonmultifunctionalteamworkfocusedoncustomerneeds.Themanycontributionsofitinavarietyofapplicationshasbeenwidelyreported(HauserandClausing,1996;Akao,1990,1996;King,1989;ClausingandPugh,1991;Clausing,1993;Sulliva
7、n,1986;Chengetal,1995;LockamyandKhurana,1995).SincetheoriginationoftheHouseofQualityattheMitsubishisKobeshipyardsitein1972(amilestoneoftenmentionedintheliterature),thismethodologyhasevolvedinnumerousways.StandingoutintheliteraturearethemodelsproposedbyDonClausing(1993)(namelytheEn
