3、lained,focusinginthemanipulationandevaluationofthemodulardescriptionsofthetopologies.I.INTRODUCTIONThefieldofautomaticgenerationofsynthesizedsoundhasbeenfocusedusuallyintheestimationofparametersforapredeterminedsynthesistechnique(ortopology)totrytoreproduceapart
4、iculartargetsound(1),(2).Whilethisisveryplausible,itisknownthatdifferentsoundsynthesistechniquesperformbetterwithdifferenttypesofsounds.Therefore,someparametermatchingtechniquescangivepoorresultswhenusingafixedtopology.Asearchalgorithmthatincludesthe“soundsynthe
5、sistechniquesspace”aspartofthesearchcanbeusedtoselectfromalimitedsetofsynthesistechniques(i.e.the“classic”synthesistechniques)beforeapplyingtheparameter-matchingalgorithm.Anevenmoreadventurousgoalwouldbetodevelopanalgorithmcapableofsearchthroughabroadersetofsynt
6、hesistechniques(i.e.classicandmore).Thiskindofalgorithmwouldbeevenableofsuggesting“new”(i.e.notclassic)synthesistechniques(topologies).Thispaperdescribestheoverallideaofanalgorithmcapableoffindingsoundsynthesistechniques,andfocusesinthepreparatorystepsnecessaryt
7、oaccomplishthisgoal.Specifically,itdescribestheelementsusedasconstructionblockstoformthesynthesistechniques,theirdescriptions,andtheuseofageneticprogramthatsearchesthesoundsynthesistechniquesspace.II.ABOUTSOUNDSYNTHESISTECHNIQUESAsoundsynthesizerisadevice(ormeth
