2、sourcesResearch,CAS,Beijing100101,ChinaAbstract:Transportinfrastructureplaysanimportantroleinshapingtheconfigurationofspa-tialsocio-economicstructuresandinfluencesregionalaccessibility.Thispaperdefinestransportdominancefromthreeaspects:quality,quanti
3、ty,andadvantage,measuredbyden-sity,proximity,andaccessibilityindices.Countyisthebasicunitforanalysis.Theresultsreveal:(1)Transportdominancestatisticallyfollowsapartialnormaldistribution.Averyfewcounties,1.4%ofthetotal,haveextremelyhightransportdomina
4、ncewhichstronglysupportsthesocio-economicdevelopmentintheseareas.Incontrast,oneeighthofallcountieshavepoortransportdominancewhichimpedeslocalsocio-economicdevelopmenttosomeextent.Theremainingareas,about70%ofthecounties,havemediantransportdominance.(2
5、)Transportdominanceisspatiallyunevenlydistributed,withvaluesdecreasinggraduallyfromthecoastalareatotheinlandarea.Areasinthefirst-highestleveloftransportdominancearemainlyconcentratedintheYangtzeRiverDelta,theGreaterBeijingarea,andthePearlRiverDelta.A
