3、easesinhuman.Thepresentstudywasundertakentoinvestigateinvitroantibacterialactivityofsuccessivelyextractedhexane,dichloromethane(DCM),ethylacetate,ethanol,methanolandaqueousextractsofbulbofAlliumsativum,leafofEucalyptuscitriodoraandOcimumsanctumagainstBacillussubtilis,
4、Staphylococcusaureus,PseudomonasaeruginosaandEscherichiacoliatdifferenttestconcentrationbyagarwelldiffusionmethod.Thetestsampleswerealsosubjectedtodetectthepresenceofphytochemicals.Theresultsofantibacterialactivitywasanalyzedbyusingone-wayanalysisofvariance(ANOVA)andf
5、ollowedbyLeastSignificantDifference(LSD)test.Thestudyrevealedthattheextractspossessedantibacterialactivityinadosedependentmanner.AmongthetestplantsE.citriodorashowedbetteractivityagainsttestbacteria.AqueousextractofE.citriodoraexhibitedsignificantly(P<0.05)highereffec
6、tonB.subtilisattheconcentrationof0.5mg/100µl.MethanolandaqueousextractsofE.citriodoraonB.subtilis,ethylacetateandethanolextractofE.citriodoraonS.aureusandmethanolextractofE.citriodoraonP.aeruginosashowedsignificantly(P<0.05)highereffectattheconcentrationof1.0mg/100µlc
7、omparedtoothertestextracts.AmongthedifferenttestsamplesofO.sanctum,ethanolextractproducedbetterinhibitiononB.subtilis.EthylacetateextractofA.sativumandaqueousextractofO.sanctumshowedinhibitoryeffectonalltestbacteriaattheconcentrationrangedfrom1.0mg/100µlto30.0mg/100µl
