3、nly2.4percentofthenation'spopulation,theyconstitute17.1percentoftheundergraduatesatHarvard,18percentattheMassachusettsInstituteofTechnologyand27.3percentoftheUniversityofCaliforniaatBerkeley.AttheUniversityofCalifornia,astaggering35.1percentoftheundergraduatesareAsian-Americans,buttheproportion
4、inthefreshmanclassisevenhigher:41percent.TheAsians'culturespringsfromtheircommonheritageofConfucianism,thephilosophyofthe5th-centuryB.C.Chinesesagewhotaughtthemancanbeperfectedonlythrougheducationandpractice.Confuciusisnotjustsomecharacteroutofthepast,heisaneverydayrealitytothesepeople."Confuci
