1、HydroelasticImpactsofDeformableWedgesRiccardoPanciroliAbstractThisworkinvestigatestheslammingphenomenonexperiencedduringthewaterentryofdeformablebodies.Wedgesarechosenasreferencegeometryduetotheirsimilaritytoagenerichullsection.Hullslammingoccurswhenash
2、ipre-entersthewaterafterhavingbeenpartiallyorcompletelyliftedoutthewater.Therearethreemorecasescommonlydefinedasslammingphenomena:bow-flare,wet-deckandgreenwaterslamming.Theseareallspecialcasesofthegeneraltopicofwaterentryofabody.Whiletheanalysisofrigidst
3、ructuresenteringthewaterhasbeenextensivelystudiedinthepastandthereareanalyticalsolutionscapableofcorrectlypredictingthehydrodynamicpressuredistributionandtheoverallimpactdynamics,theeffectofthestructuraldeformationontheoverallimpactforceisstillachalleng
4、ingproblemtobesolved.Infact,incaseofwaterimpactofdeformablebodies,thedynamicdeflectioncouldinteractwiththefluidflow,affectingthehydrodynamicload.Thisworkinvestigatesthehull-slammingproblembyexperimentsandnumericalsimulationsofthewaterentryofelasticwedgesim
5、pactingonaninitiallycalmsurfacewithpureverticalvelocity.Theobjectiveistodetermineanaccuratemodeltopredicttheoveralldynamicsofthewedgeanditsdeformations.Morethan1,200experimentswereconductedbyvaryingwedgestructuralstiffness,deadriseangle,impactvelocityan
6、dmass.Oninterestaretheoverallimpactdynamicsandthelocalstructuraldeformationofthepanelscomposingthewedge.Alongsidewiththeexperimentalanalysis,numericalsimulationsbasedonacoupledSmoothedParticleHydrodynamics(SPH)andFEMmethodaredeveloped.Rangesofapplicabil
