4、evaluatingtheenergyefficiencyofmultipleskinfacadescannotbeperformedbyanalysingthetransmissionlossesandgainssolely.Itisimperativetotakeintoaccounttheenthalpychangeofthecavityairandtoperformawholebuildingenergyanalysis.1.INTRODUCTIONThesensibilityforenvironmentalfriendlyandenergyconsciousb

5、uildingdesignurgedtheneedtodevelopnewfacadetechnologies.Inthesearchtowardsenergyefficientandvisuallyattractivefacades,multipleskinfacades(MSFs)areregularlypresentedasbeingvaluablesolutionstofollowthedesiresofmodernarchitecture.MSFs(alsoknownasactiveenvelopes,secondskinfacades,twin-facade

6、s,etc.)consistoftwopaneswithinbetweenacavitythroughwhichairflows.Thedrivingforcefortheairflowisnaturalormechanicalventilation.Inthecavity,usuallyashadingdeviceisprovided.Generally,distinctionismadebetweennaturallyandmechanicallyventilatedMSFs.ExtensiveliteratureonMSF-typologiescan,forexa
