2、alintegrityoftheagingaircraft.Simpleanalyticalandprobabilisticmodelsforpredictingpittingcorrosionandcorrosion–fatiguelifeinaluminumalloy2024/T3usedinaircraftstructuresispresented.Thedevelopedmodelincludestheeffectoftheinteractionofcyclicloadandthecorrosiveenvironmentonthefatiguelife,andco

3、nsidersallstagesofthecorrosion–fatigueprocess.Theprobabilisticmodelinvestigatedconsiderstheuncertaintiesininitialpitsize,corrosionpittingcurrent,andmaterialpropertiesduetoscatterfoundintheexperimentaldata.Theanalyticalmodelshowsverygoodquantitativeagreementwiththeexistingexperimentaldataa

4、ndanalyticalmodelsoverawiderangeofparameters.Theresultspredictedthatthecrackinitiationlifevariesapproximately10–40%ascomparedtocrackpropagationlifeincorrosion–fatigueproblems.I.Introductiononsetofcrackgrowth.Inaseriesofpapers,Weietal.4andHarlowandWei5¡7havedevelopedaprobabilisticmodelfort

5、hepredictionATIGUEfailuresmayresultwhenagingaircraftareoperatedinFacorrosiveenvironmentduetonucleation,initiation,andprop-ofcorrosionandcorrosion–fatiguelife.Theirmodelisbasedonagationofcracksatthecorrosionpitsinaircraftmaterials.Scheduledthegrowthofasingledominantawfromapittoasmallsurfac

6、emaintenanceandinspectionofaircraftcomponentsinadvancemaycrackandthenintoathroughcrack.Theyshowedthatprobabilisticpreventsuchfailures.Establishmentofsimpleanalyticalmodelsconceptscouldbeemployedtopredictthepittingcorrosion–fatigueforcorrosion–fatigueishelpfulindesigningamaintenancepro-pro
