2、iSeveralcompositeblendsofpoly(vinylalcohol)(PVA)andlignocellulosicfiberswerepreparedandcharacterized.CohesiveandflexiblecastfilmswereobtainedbyblendinglignocellulosicfibersderivedfromorangewasteandPVAwithorwithoutcornstarch.Filmswereevaluatedfortheirthermalstabilit
3、y,waterpermeabilityandbiodegradationproperties.Thermogravi-metricanalysis(TGA)indicatedthesuitabilityofformulationsformeltprocessing,andforapplicationasmulchfilmsinfieldsatmuchhighertemperatures.Compositefilmswereper-meabletowater,butatthesametimeabletomaintaincon
4、sistencyandcompositionupondrying.Chemicalcrosslinkingofstarch,fiberandPVA,allhydroxylfunctionalizedpolymers,byhexamethoxymethylmelamine(HMMM)improvedwaterresistanceinfilms.Filmsgener-allybiodegradedwithin30daysinsoil,achievingbetween50–80%mineralization.Bothstarc
