2、inshapingourunderstandingsoftheworld.TimeSpaceisthefirstbooktobringtheseintereststogether.Ratherthanthinkingintermsofeithertimeorspace,itarguesthatouraccountsofthesocialworldmustdrawinsteaduponthemorecomplexnotionofTimeSpace.Withcontributorsdrawnfromarangeofdiscipline
3、s,includingGeography,Sociology,GenderStudies,InternationalStudiesandEnglishLiterature,TimeSpaceiswide-ranginginbothsubstantiveandtheoreticalscope.Inthefirstpartofthevolumecontributorsexplorethe‘Making’and‘Living’ofTimeSpace.Chaptersexaminepastandpresentchangesintimean
4、dtimeconsciousnessandthemeaningofsuchchangesforthepeoplelivingthroughthem;changingunder-standingsofModernisationandProgressandthegeographiesthatunderpinthem;andtherolethatunderstandingsofTimeSpaceplayinprojectsofnationalandracialidentityandthepoliticsofBelonging.Inthe
