3、age6of6IntroductionTheUniversity,likemanyorganisations,haslimitedparkingavailableonitssites.Overrecentyearsithasbecomeapparentthatthelimitedresourcesmustbebettercontrolledtoensurethemostappropriateuseofthefacilities.InadditiontothistheUniversityiscom

4、mittedtointroducingaSustainableTravelPlantohelpreducethenumberofvehiclestravellingtoUniversitysitesandthesubsequentenvironmentalimpactthattheyhave.OneoftheoptionsavailabletotheUniversityistointroducechargingforcarparkingatUniversitysites.AdraftContro

5、lledParkingPolicywasproducedanddistributedtotheUniversitycommunityforcommentsandsuggestions.TheconsultationranoverasixweekperiodduringFebruaryandMarch.Numerouse-mailsandtelephonecallswerereceivedonmanyaspectsoftheproposedpolicyandthese,togetherwithth

6、eviewsobtainedthroughfacetofaceconsultationsessions,aresummarisedinthisconsultationreport.Thesummarisedcommentsandsuggestionswillbeusedtoshapeandadapttheproposedpolicysothatamorebalancedsystemcanbeproducedwhichtakesintoconsiderationtheoperationalneed

7、softheUniversity,theneedsoftheUniversitycommunityandtheenvironmentalimpactoftravel.ThecommentsandsuggestionsreceivedfromtheUniversitycommunityaresummarisedunderthefollowingheadings:1.ConceptofchargingforcarparkingStaffComment:“I’mgladtheUniversityisf
