2、economicbenefits.Inordertoachievetheseoutcomesandmakeeffectiveplanningdecisions,thepartnersestablishedtheneedforaMasterplandocument,illustratingthepartner’svisionforarangeoffeaturesfortheGreatFenProjectarea,including:·habitatsandlandmanagement;·accesszoning;·floodriskmanagementarea(s);·visitorf

3、acilities;·activityandrecreationhubs;·signageandinterpretation;·accesslinkstosurroundingcommunities;and·linkstolocalattractionsandamenitiesPhase1:DevelopmentofthefirstdraftThisreportincludeskeyfindingsfromthePhase1(ApriltoMay2009)consultationwithkeystakeholders,whichwasusedtoinformthedevelopmen

4、tofthefirstdraftoftheMasterplan(producedbyLDADesign,workingonbehalfoftheGreatFenProjectpartners).Phase2:PublicconsultationThefirstdraftwasthentakentoconsultationwiththegeneralpublicandstakeholderorganisationsbetweenSeptemberandOctober2009,togetfurthercommentsandfeedback.ThekeyfindingsofthePhase

5、2consultationarealsoincludedinthisreport.KeyfindingsfromtheinitialPhase1consultationwithstakeholderscanbesummarisedasfollows:HabitatsandlandmanagementTherewasgeneralsupportforthehabitatsproposedfortheProjectarea.InPhase1therewasaconcernthatallhabitatswerenotrepresentedinZone1(quietarea,verylimi

6、tedaccess).TheorientationofZone1waschangedtoaccommodatethis.AccesszoningAccesszoningwasviewedasagoodwayofmanagingpeopleandwildlife,althoughitwassuggestedthatthewildernessareacouldbeextendedsouth,anditwasraisedthataccess82GreatFenMasterplanConsultationReportPublished3September2010fromthenorthwas

7、notdirect(i.e.neededtogoaroundZone1).Zone1wasadaptedinshapetoincorporatemorehabitatsandtoprovidebetteraccess.VisitorfacilitiesTheproposedlocationofcentralnewvisitorfacilitieswassupportedoverall,thoughtheboatingcommunitywereconcern
