4、orkstationsandServers1.IntroductionOverthepast15years,Ethernethasbeenbecomethemostwidely-usedtechnologyforinterconnectingworkstations,servers,andothercomputerequipmentinlocalareanetworks.Formostofitslife,thecapacityofEthernet(10Mb/s)farexceededthedata-movingcapabilityoftheattachedequipment
5、ortheapplicationsusingthenetwork.Throughputwastypicallylimitedbycontrollerimplementations,driverandprotocolsoftware,orhostandapplicationperformance.Morerecently,theemergenceofhigh-performanceEthernetimplementations,aswellashigh-performancehosts(bothworkstationsandservers)havechangedthissit
