3、elopmentoftheMercury,Gemini,andApollopilotedspaceflightprogramsaswellastheSpaceShuttleprogram.X-15#2justafterlaunchNASAphotoEC880180-1.ManufacturedbyNorthAmericanAviation,Inc.,thatrequiredmaintainingasteeprateofclimbuntilthreerocket-poweredX-15’sflewatotalof199times,reachingaltit
4、udeandthendecending.withNorthAmerican(andformerNationalAdvisoryCommitteeforAeronauticsorNACA)pilotScottBecauseofthelargefuelconsumptionofitsrocketCrossfieldmakingthefirst,unpoweredglideflightonengine,theX-15wasairlaunchedfromaB-52aircraftJune8,1959.NASA’sWilliamH.Danawasthepilota
5、tabout45,000ftandspeedsupwardof500mph.forthefinalflightintheprogramonOct.24,1968.Dependingonthemission,therocketengineprovidedAlloftheseflightstookplacewithinwhatwascalledthrustforthefirst80to120secondsofflight.Thethe“HighRange”surroundingbutmostlytotheeastremainderofthenormal8-t
