4、requiredintheaceacademicjournals,whichhelpsreaderseasilyretrieveanddownloadthecorrespondingpapersglobally.Hence,Englishabstractsofacademicpapersareofgreatimportance.ThepurposeofthisthesisistofinddifferencesbetweenmovesinEnglishabstractsofacademicpaperswrittenbyChineseauthorsandEnglishnative

5、speakers.Inaddition,theauthoraimstofindthelinguisticfeaturesofmovesinEnglishabstractsinacademicpapers.Inthisthesis,300EnglishabstractswereselectedrandomlyfromAppliedOpticsandActaOpticapublishedin2016andtwocorporawerebuilt.TheauthorlabelledmovesmanuallyandusedPowerConctooltofindoutthefrequen

6、ciesofthefivemovesinthe300abstracts.Thenthefrequencyofdifferentmovesaswellasthelinguisticfeaturesofthemovesinabstractsofacademicpaperswasanalyzed.TheresultsshowthatmostoftheabstractsinC1(abstractsfromAppliedOptics)andC2(abstractsfromActaOptica)followtheprincipleofthefive-movemodel.However,a

7、bstractswithfivemovesarerareinbothcorpora,whileabstractswiththreeandfourmovesareofgreatnumbersincorpora.ThemoveordersofmostoftheabstractsinthetwocorporabasicallyconformtotheorderofBIMRD.However,therearealsocomplexordersinbothcorporasuchascycle,reversiona
