3、oneoftherequiresaccumulationofnitriteinthesystemandinhi-mostcommonandrelativelycost-effectiveprocessesbitionoftheactivityofnitriteoxidizers.Ahighcon-usedtoremovenitrogenfromwastewater.Duringthiscentrationoffreeammonia(FA)inhibitsnitriteprocess,ammoniumisfirstoxid
4、izedtonitratebyaerobicoxidizers,butunfortunatelydecreasestheammoniumautotrophicnitrifiersandthennitrateisreducedtoremovalrateaswell.Therefore,theoptimalrangeofFAnitrogengasbyheterotrophicdenitrifiersunderthean-concentrationisnecessarynotonlytostabilizenitriteoxic
5、condition.Thisprocess,however,possessessuchaccumulationbutalsotoachievemaximumammoniumintrinsicshortcomingsas;(1)nitrificationreactionisremoval.InordertoderivesuchoptimalFAconcen-slowandrequiresarelativelylargeamountofoxygentrations,thespecificsubstrateutilizatio
6、nratesofand(2)denitrificationreactionrequireslotsofexternalammoniumandnitriteoxidizersweremeasured.Thecarbonsource,frequentlynotsufficientinwastewaters.optimalFAconcentrationrangeappearedtobe5–Theshortcutbiologicalnitrogenremoval(SBNR)10mg/Lfortheadaptedsludge.The
