3、rtaindemeritsthatpreventtheimprovementofstudents'readingcomprehensionabilityandreadingskillsinsteadofpromotingthem.Atpresent,oneofthedominantviewpointsabouttheanalysisofreadingprocessisschematheory.Schematheoryholdstheviewthatanylanguagematerialoralorliterary,possessesnome
4、aningitself.Instead,itonlyinstructsthereadersandthelistenerstoformmeaninginaccordancewiththeirpriorknowledge.Therefore,itisimportanttoactivatetherelevantschematainthereader'smindwhendoingandteachingreadingcomprehension.InordertofindoutwhetherEnglishreadingteachingbasedonsc
5、hematheorycanimprovestudents'readingcompetenceandstimulatetheirinterestinreading,theauthorcarriedoutanexperimentinTianjinNancangMiddleSchoolfromMarch,2010toJanuary,2011.TwoclassesofSeniorGradeOneinTianjinNancangMiddleSchoolwerechosenastheExperimentClassandtheControlClassre
6、spectively.Theschema-orientedinstructionmodelwasusedintheexperimentclass,andonesemesterlater,inordertomaketheexperimentresultmoreobjectiveandreliable,boththeExperimentClassandtheControlClassweretrainedunderthesamemodel.Inthestudy,datawerecollectedthroughapre-test,post-test
