5、erofearth,notwhollybareofgrass,andveryfertileofthistles.Asmallherdofcowsgrazesannuallyuponitinthesummer.Itseemsnevertohaveaffordedtomanorbeastapermanenthabitation.Wefoundonlytheruinsofasmallfort,notsoinjuredbytimebutthatitmightbeeasilyrestoredtoitsformerstate.Itseemsne
6、vertohavebeenintendedasaplaceofstrength,norwasbuilttoendureasiege,butmerelytoaffordcovertoafewsoldiers,whoperhapshadthechargeofabattery,orwerestationedtogivesignalsofapproachingdanger.Thereisthereforenoprovisionofwaterwithinthewalls,thoughthespringissonear,thatitmighth
