2、isthecontrastiveandcomparativestudyoffact,andtheotheristhecontrastiveandcomparativestudyoftheory.Thispaper,dependingonthefacts,analyzestheprimitivecolors’associationsinEnglishandChinesecultures.Manyresearcheshavestudiedthecolorwords,andmostofthemhaveshownthatallculturesgroupcolors
3、intothesamecategories,thatistosay,colorhuesaremostlysharedbyallnations,eventhoughwedonotallsharethesamelinguisticandnamingdefinitions.InBasicColorTerms:TheirUniversalityandEvolution1,Berlin &Kayindicatedthatdespitethesedifferences,mostculturesautomaticallymakethesamecolordistincti
4、onorcategories.Moreover,furthertestsbasedontheorganizationofsamplesofcolorbearthisassumptionout.Intheexperiment,subjectsfromvariousculturesweregivenamixofcolorsamplesandaskedtoorganizetheminthemostlogicalway.Theresultsshowthat,nomatterwhatkindoftheircultureis,theywillstillorganize
5、colorintothesamesimilarpilesbasedonsimilarity–i.e.intored,yellow,blueareas.Wecanhardlybesurprisedthateverybodyacrosstheworldassociatesthecolorredwiththemeaningofwarningorapple,however,lessconcretecolorassociationssuchasthoseinvolvedwithemotionandmemorycanoftenbequitedifferent.Ourc
6、ultureinherentlyinfluencesthewaywelearn,act,rememberandfeel.Allthenations,includingChineseandEnglishpeople,organizethecolorsinasimilarwaybuteachnation’sperceptionofcolorisdictatedbyitsculturalbackground.Coloringassociationorcolormeaning,therefore,shouldbeanimportantconsiderationfo
