2、ich.ac.uk)ThisstudypresentsnewempiricalevidenceontherelationshipbetweenthelevelofeconomicgrowthanddefenseexpendituresinthecaseofTurkeyfortheperiodof1950–2002.Onusingnewmacroeconomictheoryandmultivariatecointegrationprocedure,thisstudydemonstratesempiri-callythatthereexistsapositiv
3、elong-runrelationshipbetweenaggregatedefensespendingandaggregateoutputinTurkey.Inaddition,theCUSUMandCUSUMSQtestsconfirmthestabilityoftheaggregateoutputfunction.Theresultsobtainedfromthisstudyare,byandlarge,inlinewiththepreviousstudiesconcerningTurkey.Keywords:aggregatedefensespend

5、ggestedthatmilitaryspendinghadapositiveimpactoneconomicdevelopment.TheresultsofBenoit’sadhocstudiesarederivedfromtheexistenceofaseriesofspin-offs,spill-oversandpositiveexternalitieswhichledtoasignificantnumberofempiricalstudies.Therearebroadlytwostrandsofempiricalresearchintothistop
6、icinthedefenseliterature.ThefirstgroupusessingleregressionequationsinordertotesttheimpactofmilitaryexpenditureongrowthviaNeoclassicalorKeynesianapproaches.TheNeoclassicalsinglesupply-sidemodelofgrowthanddefenseisbasedontheworkofFeder(1982),Ram(1986)andBiswasandRam(1986),whichisrefe
