3、GrowthinIsrael:AResearchAgendaAbstractWhenevaluatingIsrael’shigh-techcapabilitiesandimpressiveeconomicachievementssinceinception,itisdifficultnottorecognizetheimportantroleplayedbydefenseandmilitarydevelopments.Inparticular,defense-relatedR&Dhadsignificantimpactson,asmuchasitwasaidedby,Israel
4、’sindustrialsector,highereducationalsysteminscienceandengineering,researchcommunity,andthecompositionofitsworkforce.However,acomprehensiveempiricalevaluationoftheeconomicimpactsofdefense-relatedR&DinIsraelisstillmissing.Suchanevaluationcouldcontributetoabetterresourceallocationanddistribution
5、ofresearchactivitiesamonggovernmentagencies,academyandthethrivingprivatehigh-techsector.Thisdocumentsreviewssomesalientresultsintheliteratureaboutthelinksbetweendefense-R&Dandeconomicperformance,andlistssomeuniquecharacteristicsoftheIsraelieconomythatmightaffectthevalidityofthisresultsforIsra
