3、forCEG.Inaddition,weattemptedtoexploreproblemsandinadequacyofcurrentstudiesandthusputforthsomesuggestionsforfutureresearch.Methods：(1)TheetiologyandpathogenesisforCEGintraditionalChinesemedicine(TCM),(2)treatmentofCEGbysyndromedifferentiation,(3)andtheefficacyandmechanismofintegrativetherapiesfo

4、rCEGwerereviewedonthebasisofretrievalandcollectionofliteraturepublishedinthelast7yearsregardingtreatmentofCEGbysingletraditionalChinesemedicaltherapyorintegrativetherapies.Thequalityoftheclinicalliteraturewasevaluatedinaccordancewiththeprinciplesofclinicalepidemiology/Design,MeasurementandEvalua

5、tioninMedicalResearch(DME).Results:(1)InTCM,thedevelopmentofCEGmaybecausedbyeitherexcesssyndromecharacterizedbyblockageofqimovementandfailureofstomachqitodescendnormally,orbydeficiencysyndromemanifestedbyfailuretowarmortonifythestomachduetochronicconditions.Inmodernmedicine,CEGmaybecausedbyvario

6、usexogenousorendogenousfactorsinducingareductioningastricmucosalbloodflowordestructionofthe-3-defensemechanismofmucosaorimpairmentofgastricmucosabygastricacidandpepsin.(2)Clinically,CEGisdiagnosedmainlybysyndromedifferentiationofTCMcombinedwithdiseasedifferentiationofWesternmedicineassistedbydet

7、ectionofchangesingastricmucosalmorphologybyendoscopy.(3)ChineseherbalformulaisamajorcomponentofprescriptionforpatientswithCEG.MostoftheseChineseherbalformulasweremodifiedonesbasedontheoriginalrecipes.Thereweresomeproblemsinc
