5、turalchangesinthestrategicalliancenetworksoftheglobalinformationsector(GIS)from1989to2000,aperiodwhenthisorganizationalfieldexperiencemajortransformationsintechnologyandeconomiccompetition.Thismulti-industrysectorencompassesthe145largestNorthAmerican,Europ
6、ean,andAsianfirmsthateithermanufactureequipment(semiconductors;computers;peripheraldevices)orcreate,distribute,andprovideaccesstodiverseinformationalcontent(satellite,wire,cellular,andpagertelecommunications;softwareanddatabasepublishing;newspaperandmagazi
7、nepublishing;motionpictures,videoandsoundrecording;radio,television,andcablecasting).Analyzingdataon3,571strategicallianceannouncements,weexaminechangesoccurringatbothmacro-andmicro-levelsoverthetwelveyears.Timetrendsrevealthatacceleratingratesofalliancefo
