1、MathematicalModelingontheGrowthandRemovalofNon-metallicInclusionsintheMoltenSteelinaTwo-StrandContinuousCastingTundishHAITAOLING,LIFENGZHANG,andHONGLIInthecurrentstudy,mathematicalmodelsweredevelopedtopredictthetransientconcentrationandsizedistributionofinclusionsinatwo-strandcontinuousca
2、stingtundish.Thecollisionandgrowthofinclusionswereconsidered.ThecontributionofturbulentcollisionandStokescollisionwasevaluated.Theremovalofinclusionsfromthetopsurfacewasmodeledbyconsideringthepropertiesofinclusionsandthemoltensteel,suchasthewettability,density,size,andinterfacialtension.T
3、heeffectofcompositionofinclusionsonthecollisionofinclusionswasincludedthroughtheHamakerconstant.Meanwhile,theeffectoftheturbulentfluctuationvelocityontheremovalofinclusionsatthetopsurfacewasalsostudied.InclusionsinsteelsamplesweredetectedusingautomaticSEMScanningsothattheamount,morphology,si
4、ze,andcompositionofinclusionswereachieved.Inthesimulation,thesizedistributionofinclusionsattheendsteelrefiningwasusedastheinitialsizedistributionofinclusionsattundishinlet.Theequilibriumtimewhenthecollisionandcoalescenceofinclusionsreachedthesteadystatewasequalto3.9timesofthemeanresidencet
5、ime.WhenStokescollision,turbulentcollision,andremovalbyfloatingwereincluded,theremovalfractionofinclusionswas16.4pct.Finally,theremovalofsolidandliquidinclusions,suchasAl2O3,SiO2,and12CaOÆ7Al2O3,attheinterfacebetweenthemoltensteelandslagwasstudied.Comparedwith12CaOÆ7Al2O3inclusions,thesili
