2、opmentofBuddhisminChinaissomehowtheprocessofBuddhismChinalization,ortosaylocalization.BuddhismwassowellacceptedbyChina,itisnotonlybecausethecharacterofopen-mindedandall-inclusiveoftheChinesenation,butalsobecausethatBuddhismhasitselfarichandcolorfulconnotationwhichservesasupplementt

3、otheChinesetraditionalculture.WhenBuddhismwasjustintroducedintoChina,itwasregardedasakindofTaoistpractices.ThisisbecausetheforeignBuddhistmonksattemptedtopropagateBuddhisminChinahadadaptedusuallybothTaoistandConfuciantheoriestointerpretBuddhism.DuringtheChineseSouthandNorthDynastie

5、tstotheEmperor"soon.DuringtheTangandSongDynasties,Buddhismbeganitsprocessoflocalization,whereConfucianism,BuddhismandTaoism,thethreemajorphilosophicschoolsflowedtogethertakingonanewaspectintheChinesesociety.ConfucianismhadabsorbedalotfromBuddhismandgiventhebirthtoNeo-Confucianism.T
