4、acombinationofpoliticalandreligiouspowers.Governmentofficials,aristocratsandmonasteriescollectivelymaintainedtightcontroloverTibet’sresourcesandwealth,andtheTibetanpeoplelivedindiremiserywithoutanyfreedom.Atthattime,Tibetwasasdarkandbackwardasmedieval

5、Europe.ThefoundingofthePeople’sRepublicofChinain1949markedTibet’sentryintomoderncivilization.Afteraseriesofimportanthistoricalstages,fromitspeacefulliberationanddemocraticreformtotheestablishmentoftheautonomousregionandthereformandopening-updrive,Tibe

6、thassteereditselfintoafastlaneofdevelopmenttogetherwiththerestofChina.Halfacenturylater,Tibetisaworldtotallydifferentfromitsoldselfbeforethe1950s.TheTibetanpeoplehavegainedfreedom,equalityanddignity,andarefullyenjoyingthefruitsofmoderncivilization.The
