5、uencetheoutcomeofstudents'learningsecondlanguage(L2).Itisstudiedbymoreandmorescholars,whodefinemotivationfromdifferentperspectives,andclassifymotivationintoseveraltypesbasedondifferentstandards.Forexample,GardnerandLambert(1972)dividemotivationintotwotypes:instrumenta

6、lmotivationandintegrativemotivation,whileDeciandRyan(1985)dividemotivationintointrinsicmotivationandextrinsicmotivation.Hereanewclassificationofmotivationisbuiltup,whichdividesmotivationintointernalmotivationandexternalmotivation.Theinternalmotivationisfurtherdividedi

7、ntointerest,senseofachievement,responsibility,opportunityforadvance,andself-perfection.Theexternalmotivationisfurtherdividedintoreward/punishment,utilityvalue,groupattitudeandpressure.AsurveyisconductedinShanyinXinjieMiddleSchool,where179studentsarerandomlychosenfromo
