2、eenPeopleindifferentcountriesarefrequentlyincreasedandthecultureofdifferentcountriesarealsohighlyintegrated.Butintheprocessofcommunicationandintegration,peoplecomeacrossaproblem,thatis,culturalbarriers.Cultureisaconceptwhichhaswideandcomplicatedcontext
3、,anditincludes“knowledge,belief,policy,art,law,ethics,customs,andabilitiesandhabitsformedbypeopleassocialmembers.”(Tylor,1970:120).ChineseandEnglisharetwodifferentnations,sotheymusthavetheirownculturalbackgroundandhistory.Itisbecauseoftheculturaldiffer
4、encesanddiversitythatintheprocessofcommunicationPeoplemusthavedifficultiesinherentin,oneofthemistranslationperformance.Sowhatisthetranslation?ThedefinitionoftranslationbyTheOxfordEnglishDictionaryis“toturnfromonelanguageintoanother.”Anotherdefinitionby
5、Webster'sThirdNewInternationalDictionaryoftheEnglishLanguageis“toturnintoone'sownoranotherlanguage.”(孙致礼.2003)Thatistosay,translationislanguageconversionactivities.Itisthesocialcommunicationtoolbetweentwolanguage-community.Sincethecloserelationshipbetw
