2、ppliedtomanagerialpractice.Design/methodology/approach–Thepaperisprimarilytheoreticalinperspective.Italsodrawsuponinterviewdataderivedfromanindepthstudyofalargestate-ownedcorporategroupinChinainordertodemonstratethemodelthatisknownasmodernConfucianentrepreneurship.Findings–AdherencetoConf

3、ucianvalueswasdemonstratedbybothmanagerandemployeeinterviewees.However,Chinesemanagersalsoneedtoreformsomepracticesastheymoveintotheinternationalmarketplace.Aswesternmanagers,atthesametime,increasinglyseektoincreasetheirsocialcapitalitisclearthatChineseandwesternmanagerscanlearnfromeachot

4、her.Researchlimitations/implications–Theexamplesdrawnuponinthispapercomefromastate-ownedcorporation.Indicationsarethatsmaller,privatelyownedcompaniesinChinaaremoreaggressivelyadoptingmarketmodelsbuiltuponcompetitiveindividualism.Furtherresearchisneededtodevelopcomparisons.Practicalimplica
