3、nation’shistory,economy,culture,traditionsandcustoms.AndnumbersreflectdifferentconnotationsindifferentlanguagessuchasinEnglishandChinese.Sotheirconnotationsarebeyondthesimplecollectionofeachwordinthesetphrases,commonsayings,proverbs,idioms,andmuchmoreprofoundthanthatofasinglenumber.Besides,numbersc
4、anworkasrhetoricaldevices,sovivid,concise,colourful,andbrilliant.Tocorrectlycomprehendandproperlytranslatethenumberscallsforawiderangeofbackgroundknowledgeconcerningthecultureinbothsourcelanguageandtargetlanguage.Thetranslatorshoulddistinguishtheliteral,figurativeandconnotativemeaningsofthenumerali
