2、ontheorymayimpedethiscause.ThethesisisanattempttostudythetranslationofWTOtermsundertheguidanceofNida’sfunctionalequivalencetheory.Herefollowsabriefsummaryofitsfivechapters:ChapterOneintroducesthestudybackground,currentstudyingachievementsanddefects,aswellasthesignificancelyinginthest

3、udyofWTOtermstranslation.ChapterTwoanalyzesthedistinctfeaturesoftheWTOtermssupportedbyabundantexamplescitedfromoriginalWTOtexts,whichservesasafoundationforthesummaryoftranslationprinciplesinthefollowingchapter.ChapterThreefirstintroducesNida’sfunctionalequivalencetheoryandreaders’res

4、ponsetheory.AccordingtothefeaturesoftheWTOtermsandtheanalysisofNida’stheory,theauthorconcludesthatcorrectunderstandingisthebasisofthemostnaturaltranslation.Therefore,thequalitiesofaWTOtermstranslatorarespelledoutastheprerequisitetogoodtranslations.GuidedbyNida’stheoryandbasedonthefea

5、turesoftheWTOterms,theauthorthenproposesfiveprinciplesintranslatingpractice,i.e.word-for-wordtranslation,transferenceplusexplanation,directemploymentofEnglishabbreviations,explanatorytranslationandindirecttranslationviaFrenchversion.ChapterFourconductsacomparativestudyofthecurrenttra

6、nslatedversionsofWTOdocuments.Problems,suchasdiscrepancyandmistranslation,havebeenpointedoutwithsomeillustrations.TheauthorhenceemphasizesonthewaytothestandardizationofthetranslatedWTOtermsandproposestomakeatranslationsysteminnovation,saytosetupanacademicinstitutespecializedintheWTOt
