2、etoric,andthetransfertheoryandsoon.Theseresearcheshaveimportantimplementalandinstructivesignificanceswithregardtoraisethetranslationlevel.Fromtheabove,itisnotdifficulttoseethattheytouchupontheculturalinterferencealittle.Becauseofthecloserelationshipbetweenlanguageandcultureand
3、theeffectsbroughtbymotherlanguage,ChinesestudentscombineChinesetraditionalthinkinghabits,valuesandsoonunavoidablyintotheproverbstranslation.Therefore,theinferencestakeshapeandthetranslatedworksChinglish.Thiswriterholdsthatculturalbarrieristhekeyofaffectingefficientproverbstran
4、slationbecauselanguageandculturearewellblendedasmilkandwater.Inordertolearnalanguage,onemuststudytheculturethelanguagereflectsandknowthedifferencesbetweenthenationalcultureandtheforeignones.Andthemanifestationshowedinlanguage.(刘华,2003:9)ThispaperwillanalyzeitfromtheEnglishprov
5、erbs’definition,source,featuresandfunctionsanddiscussthetranslationofEnglishproverbsfromaculturalperspective.What’smore,itpointsouttheimportanceofdealingwiththeculturaldifferencesandconnotations.2.TheEnglishProverbs2.1TheDefinitionofProverbsAccordingtothedefinitionofTheModernC
6、hineseDictionary,proverbsarethefixedsentencesthatarespreadamongpeopleandreflecttheprofoundmeaningsbysimpleandpopularexpressions.AndMaGuofansayssomethingaboutthedifferencesbetweenproverbsandidiomsinIdiomsasfollows:⑴Idiomsaremainlywritten,whileproverbsaremainlyoral.⑵Thestructure
