2、orrie’sfatherwasMervynNorrie,anIndustrialChemist,whoattendedHarvardUniversityandbecameGeneralManagerofUnionCarbideAustralasia,aswellasCofounderandChairmanoftheBoardofMemtec.Inthelate1930’sMervynNorrieassistedProfessorLemburg,ahaemotologistattheRoyalNorthShoreHos
3、pitalinSydney,intheworld’sfirstcrystallizationofanenzyme,whentheyisolatedcatalase.In1971Dr.NorriebeganhismedicalstudiesattheUniversityofNewSouthWales,wherehetrainedanddidhisinternshipatSt.Vincent’sHospitalinSydney-famousasAustralia’sHeartTransplantHospital.After
4、gaininghisBachelorofMedicineandBachelorofSurgerydegrees,Dr.NorriegainedanAustralianFamilyPlanningAssociationCertificatein1980andestablishedhisownsolofamily/generalpracticesurgeryinSydney’sfamousNorthernBeachesRegion.In1986,Dr.Norriestartedtopursuehisgreatinteres
5、tinwineandhealthbyresearchingthebiographiesofalltheover180doctorsinAustralia,whohavefoundedvineyards,resultinginabookcalled“Australia’sWineDoctors”.(ThisextremelyhighproportionofdoctorsisuniquetoAustralia).Fromthisbasicresearchhavecomefourotherbooks,namely“Viney
6、ardsofSydney”in1990,whichre-wrotethehistoryofAustralia’searliestwineindustry,“Lindeman”in1993,whichwastheofficialCompanyhistoryoftheLindemanwinegroup,“Penfold”in1994,thehistoryofAustralia’slargestwinecompanyand“LeoBuring”,thehistoryofAustralia’sFirstWineAuthroit
7、y,publishedin1996.In1992,Dr.NorriebecamethefirstgraduatefromthenewlyformedHistoryandPhilosophyofScienceDepartmentattheUniversityofSydney(Australia’soldestuniversity),whenhecompletedhisresearchandwrotehisthesis,“AstudyoforiginaldocumentsonViticultureinEarlyNewSou
