3、ical,syntactic,semantic,otherlinguisticsknowledgeandtheirattitude,goalsset,abilityofcomprehension,abilityofinterpreting,andsoon. 2.TherelationshipbetweenL1readingandL2reading L1readinginfluencesL2reading,thisisoneaspectoflinguistictransfer/languagetransfer.Itisthetransferofl
4、inguisticfeaturesbetweenlanguagesinthespeechrepertoireofabilingualormultilingualindividual,whetherfromfirsttosecond,secondtofirstormanyotherrelationships.ItismostcommonlydiscussedinthecontextofEnglishlanguagelearningandteaching,butitcanoccurinanysituationwhensomeonedoesnothave
5、anative-levelcommandofalanguage,aswhentranslatingintoasecondlanguage.Itcontentspositivetransferandnegativetransfer.AlthoughtheuseoftheL1inL2readingisstillarelativelyunder-researcheddomain,itisbecomingclearthattheL1isever-presentforbilingualindividuals.WhiletheyarereadingintheL
6、2,bilingualsthinkabouttextsintheirL1,andunconsciouslytranslateandparaphrasetextsintotheirL1. Theparticipantsappliedavarietyofdifferentcomprehensionandmonitoringstrategiesand,incontrasttotheBernhardtstudymentionedaboveanddidindeedbacktrackastheyreadanddidre-readtexts,possiblyb
