3、npovertyandallformsofhumanlife.Andyetthesamerevolutionarybeliefsforwhichourforebearsfoughtarestillatissuearoundtheglobe--thebeliefthattherightsofmancomenotfromthegenerosityofthestate,butfromthehandofGod. Wedarenotforgettodaythatwearetheheirsofthatfirstrevolution.Letthew
4、ordgoforthfromthistimeandplace,tofriendandfoealike,thatthetorchhasbeenpassedtoanewgenerationofAmericans--borninthiscentury,temperedbywar,disciplinedbyahardandbitterpeace,proudofourancientheritage,andunwillingtowitnessorpermittheslowundoingofthosehumanrightstowhichthisnat
5、ionhasalwaysbeencommitted,andtowhichwearecommittedtodayathomeandaroundtheworld. Leteverynationknow,whetheritwishesuswellorill,thatweshallpayanyprice,bearanyburden,meetanyhardship,supportanyfriend,opposeanyfoe,toassurethesurvivalandthesuccessofliberty. Thismuchwepledge-
6、-andmore. Tothoseoldallieswhoseculturalandspiritualoriginsweshare,wepledgetheloyaltyoffaithfulfriends.Unitedthereislittlewecannotdoinahostofcooperativeventures.Dividedthereislittlewecando--forwedarenotmeetapowerfulchallengeatoddsandsplitasunder. Tothosenewstateswhomwew
