3、 ChapterI GeneralProvisions Article1ThisLawisenactedinaccordancewiththeConstitutionofthePeople'sRepublicofChinawithaviewtoensuringthestatusoftradeunionsinthepolitical,economicandsociallifeoftheState,definingtheirrightsandobligationsandbringingintoplaytheirroleinthesocialistmoder
4、nizationdrive. Article2Tradeunionsaremassorganizationsoftheworkingclassformedbytheworkersandstaffmembersonavoluntarybasis. TheAll-ChinaFederationofTradeUnionsandallthetradeunionorganizationsunderitrepresenttheinterestsoftheworkersandstaffmembersandsafeguardthelegitimaterightsand
5、interestsoftheworkersandstaffmembersaccordingtolaw. Article3Allmanualandmentalworkersinenterprises,institutionsandgovernmentdepartmentswithintheterritoryofChinawhorelyonwagesorsalariesastheirmainsourceofincome,irrespectiveoftheirnationality,race,sex,occupation,religiousbeliefored
6、ucationalbackgroundhavetherighttoorganizeorjointradeunionsaccordingtolaw.Noorganizationsorindividualsshallobstructorrestrictthem. Article4TradeunionsshallobserveandsafeguardtheConstitution,takeitasthefundamentalcriterionfortheiractivities,takeeconomicdevelopmentasthecentraltask,u
7、pholdthesocialistroad,thepeople'sdemocraticdictatorship,leadershipbytheCommunistPartyofChina,andMarxist-Leninism,MaoZedongThoughtandDengXiaopingTheory,persevereinreformandtheopenpolicy,andconducttheirworkindependentlyinaccordancewiththeConstitutionoftradeunions. TheNationalCongre
