3、s,constraintsandcultureisakeycomponentinthedevelopmentofthedatarepositoriesthatwillultimatelyservethem.Inordertomaximizetheeffectivenessofsuchtechnologiescurationactivitiesneedtostartearlyintheresearchlifecycleandthereforestronglinkswithresearchersarenecessary.Moreover,thispaperp

6、tainordertopreservethemandmakethemre-usableforfuturegenerationswithlibraries,computingservicesandotherserviceunitswithinacademicinstitutionsworkingtogethertodevelopdigitalrepositoriestocuratethistypeofresearchoutput.Webelievethatengagementwithresearchers,theusercommunitiesinthisc
7、ase,iscrucialinordertodevelopsystemsthatwillmeettheirneeds.Whilstsomearguethatopendataisthewayforward,itisnotclearthatitwillhelpengageresearcherswithdigitalcurationactivities.Thusthispaperwillattempttoanswerthefollowingresearchquestions:Isopendatathecorrectconcepttoengagetheresea
