2、2014)Massiveopenonlinecourses(MOOCs)havegeneratedenthusiasm,excitement,andhypeworldwideandrecentlyincreasingskepticism.Theyarebeingbroadlydiscussedinthemajornewsmedia(andtoasmallerextentinacademiccircles).RapidlyincreasingnumbersofMOOCproviders,MOOCcoursesandarticles,discussiongr
3、oups,andblogsdiscussingMOOCsareindicatorsoftheinvolve-mentofmanystakeholders.Mostoftheseanalysesanddevelopmentsarebasedoneconomicperspectives(suchasscalability,productivity,andbeingfree)andtechnologyperspectives(includingplatformssupportinglargenumberofstudentsinonlineenvironment
4、s,enrichmentcomponentssuchasforums,peer-to-peerlearningsupport,andautomaticgrading).FewcontributionsanalyzeMOOCsfromalearningscienceperspectiveandputthemintoalargercontextwithotherapproachestolearningandeducation.Thiscommentaryexploreschallengesderivedfromtheperspectivetoconceptu
