2、akeitcrucialtoconsidertheethicalandsocialimplicationsofresearchingenomics,especiallyhumangeneticvariation.Theanalysisofethical,legalandsocialimplicationsshouldbeintegratedintogeneticresearch,withtheparticipationofscientistswhocanhttp://www.nature.com/naturegeneticsant
3、icipateandmonitorthefullrangeofpossibleapplicationsoftheresearchfromtheearlieststages.Thedesignandimplementationofresearchdirectsthewaysinwhichitsresultscanbeused,anddataandtechnology,ratherthanethicalconsiderationsorsocialneeds,drivetheuseofscienceinunintendedways.He
4、reweexamineforensicgeneticsandarguethatallgeneticistsshouldanticipatetheethicalandsocialissuesassociatedwithnonmedicalapplicationsofgeneticvariationresearch.Integratingethicalandsocialissuesimplications(ELSI)ofgeneticresearchwillciplineshavehadinputintheearlieststages
5、ofDataonhumangeneticvariationarebeingnotbemaximallyeffectiveifitseparatesthedesigning,carryingoutandreportinggeneticgeneratedandusedtobetterunderstandcreationofknowledgefromitsusesorifitresearchintendedtoidentifygenesinvolvedhumanorigins,susceptibilitytoillnessandsees
6、thesolutiontoappropriateusesofsci-indiseases,protectionagainstillnessandgeneticcausesofdisease.TheUSNationalenceascomingfroma“cohortofscholarsinresponsestodrugs4.ThismultidisciplinaryHumanGenomeResearchInstituteethics,law,socialscience,clinicalresearch,approachwasperc
