2、tionDenmarkhascurrentlyabout2300MWwindpowercapacityinon-landandfewoffshoresettings,whichcorrespondstomorethan20%ofpowerconsumption(inaverage).Further,constructionoftwolarge-scaleoffshorewindfarmsof150MWpowercapacityeachhasbeenannounced.ThefirstlargeoffshorewindfarminD

3、enmarkwillbeconstructedatHomsRevbytheyear2002intheareaofthesystemoperatorELTRA.ThiswillbefollowedbythefirstintheareaoftheEasternDanishsystemoperator,ELKRAFTSystem,largeoffshorewindfarmatRodsandbytheyear2003.Theinstalledcapacityinon-landsettingsandincombinedheat-poweru

4、nits(UHP)willincreaseaswell,whilstthepowerproductionandcontrolabilityoftheconventionalpowerplantswithrespecttovoltageandfrequencyarereduced.Intheyearstocome,thepowerproductionpatternintheDanishpowersystemwillchangefromthepowersupplyfromconventionalpowerplants―asitiskn

5、owntoday―toapowersupplymix,whereabout30-40%ofpowerconsumption(inaverage)iscoveredbywindpower.Inotherwords,thepowertechnologywillundergochangesfromawell-knowntechnologybuilt-upaboutconventionalpowerplantstoapartlyunknowntechnology―windpower.Intheyeartocomeitwillbefocus

6、ingonmaintainingpowersystemstabilityandvoltagestability,forexampleatashortcircuitfault,ensuringpowersupplysafetyandotherimportanttasksasamountofwindpowerisdrasticallyincreasing.Thissituation19makesitnecessarytofindsolutionswithrespecttomaintainingdynamicstabilityofthe

7、powersystemwithlargeamountofwindpoweranditsreliableoperation.Thesesolutionsarebasedonanumberofrequirementsthatareformulatedwithrespecttooperationofthelargeoffshorewindfarmsandtheexternalpowersystemincaseoffailureeventsintheexternalsystem.Thepapercontainsseparatesubjec
