2、ductionDenmarkhascurrentlyabout2300MWwindpowercapacityinon-landandfewoffshoresettings,whichcorrespondstomorethan20%ofpowerconsumption(inaverage).Further,constructionoftwolarge-scaleoffshorewindfarmsof150MWpowercapacityeachhasbeenannounced.Thefirstlargeoffshorewindf

3、arminDenmarkwillbeconstructedatHomsRevbytheyear2002intheareaofthesystemoperatorELTRA.ThiswillbefollowedbythefirstintheareaoftheEasternDanishsystemoperator,ELKRAFTSystem,largeoffshorewindfarmatRodsandbytheyear2003.Theinstalledcapacityinon-landsettingsandincombinedhe

4、at-powerunits(UHP)willincreaseaswell,whilstthepowerproductionandcontrolabilityoftheconventionalpowerplantswithrespecttovoltageandfrequencyarereduced.Intheyearstocome,thepowerproductionpatternintheDanishpowersystemwillchangefromthepowersupplyfromconventionalpowerpla

5、nts―asitisknowntoday―toapowersupplymix,whereabout30-40%ofpowerconsumption(inaverage)iscoveredbywindpower.Inotherwords,thepowertechnologywillundergochangesfromawell-knowntechnologybuilt-upaboutconventionalpowerplantstoapartlyunknowntechnology―windpower.Intheyeartoco

6、meitwillbefocusingonmaintainingpowersystemstabilityandvoltagestability,forexampleatashortcircuitfault,ensuringpowersupplysafetyandotherimportanttasksasamountofwindpowerisdrasticallyincreasing.Thissituationmakesitnecessarytofindsolutionswithrespecttomaintainingdynam

7、icstabilityofthepowersystemwithlargeamountofwindpoweranditsreliableoperation.Thesesolutionsarebasedonanumberofrequirementsthatareformulatedwithrespecttooperationofthelargeoffshorewindfarmsandtheexternalpowersystemincaseoffailureeventsintheexternalsystem.Thepapercon
