5、kingprocess.Psychologistsrecognizethatmanagers,ashumanbeingsingeneral,haveseveralmotivationalfactorsthatareeitherintrinsictotheirpersonalityorshapedbytheirenvironmentandmayhavemultipleandchangingobjectivesthatareoftencontradictory(FreyandEichenberger,2001).Valuesaresubjecttoch
6、oicesandchangewiththepersonalexperienceofindividuals.Thischangeinvaluesmodifiestheobjectivesthatindividualsattempttoattain(Akerlof,1983).Giventhatmanagershavechecksontheirperformance(fromcompetition,shareholders,customersandemployees)theyoftendomaketheirchoicesmorecarefullytha
7、nasiftheyactedasindividuals.Butmanagersarenotimmunetomoral,culturalandothersocialinfluencesusuallydisregardedbytheeconomicliterature.Moreover,thebehaviouralfinanceliteraturehasshown(e.g.Shiller,2003)thatsimplerdecisionsinequitymarketsorportfolioinvestmentcannotbetotallyexplain
