4、ity,orrace)isanantipathybasedonfaultyandinflexiblegeneralizationorstereotyping.AccordingtoAllport,itmaybefeltorexpressed,anditisdirectedtowardagroupasawholeortowardanindividualbecauseheorsheisamemberofthatgroup.Religious,ethnic,orracialprejudicepersistsforseveralreasons.Prejudi
5、cegivesanindividualafalsesenseofidentityandself-worth;thatis,apersonmaydiscriminateagainstotherstomakehimselffeelmorepowerfulandtoelevatehisownself-esteem.Also,categorizationandstereotypingoftenofferaconvenientscapegoatforindividualorgroupproblems.Prejudice,then,isgenerallythew
